Amy Sharpe joins Vencomatic UK as Senior Poultry Manager. She will head up the Agricultural Department, responsible for assisting customers with bird queries, offering welfare and compliance advice and overseeing research studies into environmental improvement – a major focus of the company in the near future.
Amy was born and bred in Lincolnshire, her parents owning a market garden – something which she says is definitely not genetic, when all of her home-grown vegetables recently died, with the exception of enough leeks for one meal! Despite this Amy enjoys gardening and refurbishing her newly-purchased dream home – complete with a pantry! When she’s not tiling, wallpapering and digging up the garden, Amy can be found walking her black Labrador – Pippa, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
During her degree in Agriculture at Harper Adams College, Amy completed a BPC scholarship year placement with Moy Park which inspired her love of the poultry industry. Recently, Amy spent 4 years at Fairburns Eggs as Agricultural Manager, overseeing company farms. This experience provided her with a good overview of different production types, systems etc, experience of working with birds, and gave her an in-depth understanding of the pressures of modern egg production and multi-tier rearing units.
Amy is enjoying her new role – “I’ve enjoyed getting out and about, meeting producers and exchanging ideas about how to manage birds and different production systems. I’m excited to see how my role develops in the future.”
