At Vencomatic Group’s recent Global partner event,  JF Mckenna received the Golden Egg Award* for their Beech Farm project, part of the Pilgrim's Europe Moy Park group here in the UK. In a conversation with JF McKenna’s Sales Manager Brian Moxon, we’ve shared the unique aspects that make this broiler farm project truly exceptional.

Vencomatic UK’s Technical Director Ben Mc Gill said that "Working on the Beech Farm project was an inspiring journey. At Vencomatic, we are dedicated to making sustainable farming a reality today. This project encapsulates that perfectly, showing commitment to innovation and eco-friendly practices, while setting new benchmarks for the industry. With the use of ground source heat pumps, solar power and Vencomatic's industry leading ECO Units, Moy Park has not just built a farm; they're driving the industry toward a more sustainable future."

Beech Farm

Discover the future of poultry farming at Beech Farm in Lincolnshire, East Midlands. This state-of-the-art facility boasts six spacious houses dedicated to raising higher welfare chickens at lower stocking densities. Beech Farm is not just an upgrade; it's a revolutionary leap forward, representing a substantial investment beyond the typical modern farm.

Designed and constructed as "the farm of the future" for the Moy Park group, Beech Farm's year-long build was completed in 2023. This pioneering farm sets new benchmarks for sustainable and cost-effective chicken production. Impressively, Beech Farm is the first in the UK to achieve a 100% reduction in energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, leading the way in eco-friendly farming practices.

Brian Moxon explains: “Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of this project. The farm employs various technologies to achieve net-zero emissions, including ground source heat pumps for heating, ECO Units to minimise overall heat consumption, and solar technology. While I believe many people are familiar with these technologies, this project demonstrates how the customer explored the potential for integrating them effectively."

ECO Units

ECO Units are the ideal solution for minimum ventilation in poultry houses, particularly during the colder months. They create a superior environment, enhance litter quality, and deliver significant energy savings. The ECO Units' heat exchangers warm fresh air from outside using the warm air extracted from inside the poultry house.

With the innovative design of the ECO Units, you can maintain a perfect and consistent climate within the house, resulting in optimal litter quality and reduced ammonia emissions. The heat exchangers offer impressive thermal efficiency of up to 80%, and the preheated air is efficiently distributed through the Louvre system.

This cutting-edge technology is managed by intelligent software, developed with a deep understanding of climate control in poultry houses. This ensures you get the most out of your equipment, leading to substantial savings in heating costs and a reduction in CO2 emissions.
